We’ve made it no secret that we think there’s big things on the horizon for Mr. Angus Murphy – AKA Amastro. His versatile brand of electronic pop has been compared to fellow Australian artists like SAFIA and Hermitude, but there’s a piercing honesty and personal homegrown edge that places the Canberra native’s carefully-crafted tunes in their own distinct lane.

That unique touch is more evident than ever on his brand new single. Following on from the pleading slow-builder “Don’t Let Me” he unleashed back in April, “Sober” arrives as our second glimpse into an EP due to drop later in the year. Amping it up on the production side with a haunting range of manipulated vocal cuts and buzzing synth effects, Murphy attempts to unpack the complexity of promiscuity in relationships and how factors like substance abuse can skew responses, expectations and perspectives. As per usual, Amastro digs deep and pushes all the right buttons to deliver another ridiculously catchy slice of compelling pop.

Amastro has also locked in a string of national tour dates alongside his support sets for L D R U‘s ‘Australian Sizzlar’ tour. Everything you need to know is below:
