Los Angeles producer Josh Legg is the mastermind behind Goldroom, an electronic pop project that has gained huge traction ever since his 2013 summer anthem “Embrace” blew up worldwide (the track even landed a coveted spot in Triple J’s ‘Hottest 100’). Originally featuring vocals from Ariela Jacobs, Legg has released a re-imagined edition featuring the actual co-writer of the song – none other than rising Aussie songstress George Maple. The original’s bit-crushed, shimmering production and perfectly spacious structure remain largely the same, save for a slight adjustment on that arresting melody in the chorus. Maple takes a more subtle approach than her predecessor, adopting a sultry, restrained whisper that gives the dance party classic a fresh, sensual sheen.

In a rather interesting development, Legg is exploring previously uncharted territory and releasing his new EP ‘It’s Like You Never Went Away’ through an exclusive partnership with Snapchat. A video snippet of “Embrace” was released just today; the remaining trio of tracks will roll out over the next three days. What a world we live in…
