Look, I’m not the biggest EDM fan. Anything that could birth something as questionable as trop house shouldn’t be touched with a 10-foot pole, if you ask me. Khalid, however, has got the Midas touch. At 19-years-old, the El Paso native has released one of 2017’s best albums, his debut LP ‘American Dream’ propelling him into a world tour, selling out shows left, right and centre.

Last week, Khalid released the star-studded video for the “Young Dumb & Broke” (a cut produced by Joel Little, i.e. the golden production chops behind Lorde‘s ‘Pure Heroine’) and he’s just linked up with Dutch DJ Marshmello for “Silence”. The track sees Khalid’s velvety vocals drive lightly-layered verses, steering into a staggered synth drop chorus, deep bass, and some gorgeous vocal harmonies.
