Sydney outfit The Preatures will surely have fans rejoicing after dropping a brand spankin’ new single titled “Girlhood”. Set to feature on the band’s yet-to-be named sophomore record, the forthcoming LP follows their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Blue Planet Eyes’.

Jam-packed with catchy, toe-tapping riffs and lead singer Izzi Manfredi’s authoritative, tone-perfect vocals, “Girlhood” is a refute to the uncompromising societal ideology of the ‘modern girl’. The song is a powerful story of Manfredi’s struggle to fit into this unrealistic mould, with the repetition of lines like, “nothing makes me a modern girl” and demanding “give me heroism, give me what is mine” cutting through the slick arrangement to make her message clear.

If you just can’t get enough of this track, then you can catch The Preatures playing the Sydney Opera House on the 1st of June as part of Vivid LIVE. Tickets drop tomorrow (19/05) at midday but you better be quick because this show is definitely going to be a sell out.
