At the start of this month, Anthony Gonzalez – the creative polymath behind M83 – casually dropped “Do It, Try It“, the lead single from ‘Junk’, his first full-length original LP since 2011’s ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’. As expected, the music world lost its collective shit; M83 is one of the most revered trailblazers in the whole damn game. It’s just so good to have him back… ?
Today, we’ve been handed down a second taste of ‘Junk’ in the typically cinematic, string-laden six-minute epic “Solitude”. Drawing from the realms that Gonzalez nurtured in his film scoring, it’s a soul-stirring slow-builder that turns it down a little bit on the larger-than-life, fanciful cartoon-like energy behind “Do It, Try It” without stripping out that ’80s retro sheen (there’s still plenty of glorious vintage synths in there).
M83 is heading out on tour in support of the new album – all the info you need is right here. You can also pre-order ‘Junk’ right here.
